Monday - Friday 3 PM - 11:30 PM Position Summary The Lab Technician Jr. role is within the Toxicology Division. This position involves operating laboratory instruments to perform initial analysis on urine and oral fluid specimens for substances of abuse, following SAMHSA mandatory guidelines and other regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities Operate and maintain screening instruments Perform initial review of test results for donor specimens and QC samples Conduct testing using refractometers and pH meters Apply screening and specimen validity test methods (EIA, CEDIA, ELISA) Troubleshoot screening instrument issues Ensure confidentiality of donor information by following security procedures Adhere to company policies and employee handbook guidelines Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree (BS) in Chemistry or Biology Preferred Qualifications Strong understanding of analytical techniques and laboratory procedures Knowledge of laboratory instrumentation Familiarity with certification requirements (SAMHSA, CAP-FDT, and other regulatory bodies) Understanding of Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and related software Core Competencies Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds Full range of body movement Vision and hearing corrected to acceptable standards Strong math and reasoning skills for laboratory procedures and reporting Ability to work under production-related stress Ability to read and understand SOPs, Federal (49 CFR Part 40), and CAP-FDT guidelines Effective communication with team members and supervisors Ability to provide operational input and recommendations Willingness to work in environments with potential exposure to hazardous materials Consultants Eligible Benefits Upon Waiting Period Medical and Prescription Drug Plans Dental Plan Vision Plan Health Savings Account (for High Deductible Health Plans) Flexible Spending Accounts (Health, Limited Purpose, Dependent Care, Commuter Parking and Commuter Transit) Supplemental Life Insurance Short Term Disability (coverage varies by state) Long Term Disability Critical Illness, Hospital coverage, Accident Insurance MetLife Legal, MetLife ID Fraud, and MetLife Pet Insurance 401(k) Abbott is a global healthcare leader that helps people live more fully at all stages of life.
