ASCP certification
Prior lab experience and knowledge Responsibilities
Examines prepared slides with the microscope to detect evidence of abnormalities.
Using diagnostic codes, report negative cases and refers abnormal cases to the pathologists for review.
Keeps records of work performed on daily basis.
Responsible for maintaining the microscope in working condition.
May read Non-GYN specimens and report findings to the pathologists for final diagnosis.
Participates in all continuing education programs. Maintains record of work performed.
Responsible for the cytologic studies of specimens and for the initial screening and reporting of normal GYN cases, referring all abnormal cases for pathology review.
May read Non-GYN and report the findings to the pathologists for final review and reporting.
Promotes quality relations and creates supportive climate by serving as a role model.
Respects and maintains the confidentiality of information relative to the laboratory.
Adheres to all laboratory policies and regulations.
Works with minimal direction.
Functions as a liaison between the laboratory and laboratory clients.
