Job Description

Molecular/Flow Cytometry Technologist
RESPONSIBILITIES
This position is responsible for independently performing clinical laboratory tasks (testing and documentation). Follow laboratory procedures on pre-analytical testing such as specimen processing and handling, analytical testing and, analysis. Post-analytical procedures such as reporting and maintaining complete and accurate records of all testing performed on-site. This position is responsible for clinical flow cytometry testing with a focus on leukemia/lymphoma profiles. Also, responsible for molecular testing focus on Next Gen Sequencing (NGS) and FISH testing. Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and resolve these issues. Assist with inventory management. Perform all aspects of flow cytometry/molecular testing and analysis, including: Calibrating instrumentation and lab equipment Setting up samples Adjust gating techniques in flow cytometry Preparing and maintaining reagents. Acquire data and perform analysis using Sysmex XF-1600 Flow Cytometer and Thermo Ion Torrent Genexus System. Distinguish between normal and abnormal case results. Summarize and prepare pre-testing and testing material for pathologist-level sign-out. Maintain/update CAP and/or CLIA accreditation standards and manuals. Perform additional duties as assigned.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in
Medical Technology, Chemistry, Biology or Allied Health Required:
Fulfill CLIA 88 regulations to qualify individual to perform high complexity testing as a
Medical Technologist Preference:
MT, H, C, BB, M, I, ASCP
certified
EXPERIENCE
2 years of Flow Cytometry experience or Molecular Testing (preferred), though some on-the-job training will be provided
SKILLS:
