Full Job Description Essential Job Duties:
Accession and process the gynecological and non-gynecological specimens as they arrive in the laboratory Perform routine stain maintenance on manual and automated stain devices Process routine gyn and non-gyn cytology specimens and perform special stain techniques using both manual and automated methods If eligible per accrediting bodies, grosses fine needle core biopsies as directed Adheres to all PBM Safety policies and to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state, and federal agencies and accrediting bodies Handle infectious biological specimens, caustics, toxic chemicals and/or irritants appropriately and safely Learn and apply computer related applications and programs, including using electronic keyboards and other peripheral devices Ensure work area has proper coverage at all times during the work shift, ie coverage for meal and/or rest periods Ensure timely distribution of completed patient materials to assigned pathologists Immediately notifies supervisory personnel of malfunctioning instrumentation Protects confidentiality of patient information and results at all times Utilize automated lab equipment properly according to lab procedures and manufacturers' instructions Maintain competency through web-based Standard Operating Procedure updates as well as educational modules Cross train in other areas as assigned or requested Perform other duties as assigned or requested
Requirements:
Education & Licensure:
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Requirements:
One to two years of prior job-related experience is preferred.
