Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental practice working with the US Coast Guard in Ketchikan, AK. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow within the clinic while providing exceptional patient care. This position requires a strong understanding of dental terminology, infection control protocols, and the ability to assist in various dental procedures. Competitive wage based on experience. Duties Assist dentists during examinations and procedures, including prosthodontics and endodontics. Prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment according to infection control standards. Maintain accurate medical records and documentation for each patient visit. Take and record vital signs as needed, ensuring patient comfort throughout their visit. Manage patient scheduling, including follow-up appointments and reminders. Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care. Utilize dental software such as Dentrix for managing patient information and records. Ensure the dental clinic is organized, clean, and well-stocked with necessary supplies. Qualifications One year previous experience as a Dental Assistant within the past three years. Knowledge of dental terminology and procedures related to general dentistry. Familiarity with infection control practices in a clinical setting. Proficiency in managing medical documentation accurately. Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with patients and team members. Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. Certification/Diploma in dental assisting is required. BLS is required. DANB Certification required or be willing to obtain.
