Job Description
Job Summary Join our dynamic dental team as a Dental Assistant, where your enthusiasm and expertise will help create a welcoming environment for patients and support the delivery of exceptional dental care. In this vital role, you will assist dentists during procedures, ensure patient comfort, and maintain the highest standards of infection control and clinical efficiency. Your proactive approach and attention to detail will contribute to a smooth-running practice dedicated to improving oral health and patient satisfaction. Responsibilities Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, ensuring all equipment is sterilized and ready for procedures. Assist dentists during a variety of dental treatments, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, by providing chairside support. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray images), ensuring proper technique and patient safety in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Manage patient records using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft, including updating medical history, treatment notes, and medical documentation. Perform vital signs assessments and monitor patient comfort throughout procedures to ensure a positive experience. Maintain strict infection control protocols using aseptic techniques to prevent cross-contamination. Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, answering patient inquiries, and assisting the dental receptionist with front desk duties. Utilize 3D scanners and other advanced imaging tools for comprehensive diagnostics when required. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient information and maintaining confidentiality at all times. Skills Proficiency in dental assisting practices with strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology. Experience working with EMR systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft; familiarity with Epic or other medical documentation platforms is a plus. Skilled in chairside assisting techniques including four-handed dentistry to enhance efficiency during procedures. Ability to operate dental imaging equipment such as X-ray machines and 3D scanners safely and effectively. Knowledge of infection control standards and aseptic techniques to maintain a sterile clinical environment. Excellent communication skills to interact confidently with patients of all ages, especially pediatrics, ensuring they feel comfortable throughout their visit. Understanding of medical coding related to dental procedures for accurate recordkeeping and billing purposes. Ability to perform vital signs assessments and monitor patient health during treatments. Familiarity with general dentistry procedures along with specialized fields like prosthodontics and endodontics enhances versatility within the practice.
