Responsibilities Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments, materials, and supplies, ensuring aseptic technique and infection control protocols are strictly followed. Assist dentists during a variety of procedures including general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, and endodontics, providing chairside support with precision and efficiency. Take and develop dental X-rays while adhering to HIPAA regulations and maintaining patient safety through proper radiation safety measures. Manage patient records using Open Dental, ensuring accurate documentation of medical history, treatment plans, and dental coding. Educate patients on dental procedures, post-treatment care, and oral hygiene practices to promote optimal health outcomes. Monitor vital signs and assist with medical imaging or other diagnostic tests as needed for comprehensive patient assessment. Support administrative tasks including scheduling appointments as a dental receptionist, managing medical documentation, and maintaining organized medical records. Collaborate with the team in four-handed dentistry techniques to improve efficiency during procedures and enhance patient comfort. Maintain a clean and organized clinic environment by following infection control standards and sterilization procedures aligned with OSHA guidelines. Qualifications Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or in a similar dental clinic setting with knowledge of general dentistry practices. Familiarity with Open Dental is a plus. Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and infection control protocols. Ability to operate dental equipment including X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and other medical imaging tools safely and effectively. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations related to medical records and patient confidentiality. Excellent communication skills to educate patients clearly about procedures and post-care instructions. Certification in radiography or X-ray technology preferred; additional certifications in pediatric dentistry or prosthodontics are advantageous.
