Briggs Family Dentistry is excited to announce an opening for a dedicated and skilled Dental Assistant to enrich our professional team. Located within our well-established practice, this role offers the chance to work alongside seasoned dental professionals dedicated to quality and patient care. Please note, this is an onsite position and is not eligible for remote work. Join a private, fee-for-service, two-doctor dental practice known for its team-oriented work environment and exceptional patient care. The ideal candidate for this role will be someone who not only possesses excellent dental assistant skills but also enjoys making each patient's visit a pleasant and effective experience. Duties and Responsibilities Assist the dentist during a variety of treatment procedures. Set up and break down operatory post-treatment. Take dental radiographs (x-rays) as prescribed by the dentist. Manage infection control - prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment. Provide patients with instructions for oral care following surgery or other dental treatment procedures, such as the placement of a restoration (filling). Educate patients on appropriate oral hygiene strategies to maintain oral health (e.g., tooth brushing, flossing, and nutritional counseling). Take impressions of patients' teeth for study casts (models of teeth). Perform office management tasks that often require the use of a personal computer. Communicate with patients and suppliers (e.g., scheduling appointments, answering the telephone, billing, and ordering supplies). Help to provide direct patient care in all dental specialties, including orthodontics, pediatric dentistry, periodontics, and oral surgery. Requirements High school diploma or equivalent; higher degree in dental assisting/medical care is preferable. Certification or associate degree in an accredited dental assisting program. Proven experience as a dental assistant; minimum of 3+ years in a dental setting. Strong understanding of health and safety regulations. Ability to perform regulated non-surgical tasks like coronal polishing is a plus. Excellent understanding of dental hygiene procedures. Knowledge of dental instruments and sterilization methods. Exceptional customer service skills and a friendly demeanor. Strong verbal communication skills. Detail-oriented and professional attitude. Efficiency and the ability to work well under pressure. Understanding of medical and dental terminology.
