Duties Assist dentists during a variety of procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry with precision and efficiency. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental tools, and ensuring all necessary supplies are ready for patient appointments. Take and develop dental X-rays using advanced medical imaging equipment such as 3D scanners, adhering strictly to infection control and aseptic techniques. Manage patient records electronically using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Monitor vital signs and assess patient comfort before, during, and after procedures to ensure safety and well-being. Support administrative tasks including answering phones as a dental receptionist, scheduling appointments, and maintaining organized medical documentation. Follow infection control protocols meticulously to maintain a sterile environment that prioritizes patient safety and adheres to OSHA standards. Skills Proficiency with dental software such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic for managing medical records and documentation. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to dental procedures. Experience with chairside assisting techniques including four-handed dentistry for increased efficiency during procedures. Ability to operate X-ray machines safely while maintaining compliance with radiation safety standards. Familiarity with infection control practices, aseptic technique, and sterilization procedures in a clinical setting. Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages, especially pediatrics, creating a positive experience. Knowledge of various dental specialties such as prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry enhances your versatility as a team member.
