Duties Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental tools, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly with strict adherence to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray imaging) while maintaining patient safety and following HIPAA regulations for medical documentation and records confidentiality Manage patient flow by greeting patients, updating medical history, taking vital signs, and explaining procedures clearly using dental terminology Operate electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix to accurately document treatment notes, medical history, and coding details Support chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency during procedures Maintain inventory of dental supplies and ensure all equipment like 3D scanners and medical imaging tools are ready for use Collaborate with the dental team to uphold infection control standards and ensure a safe environment for both patients and staff Experience Previous experience working in a dental clinic setting is highly preferred, especially with general dentistry or pediatric dentistry practices Proficiency in using EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft for managing medical records and documentation Knowledge of HIPAA regulations related to patient privacy and data security Familiarity with dental radiography including X-ray procedures and safety protocols Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry Experience with infection control practices, aseptic technique, and sterilization procedures in a healthcare environment Ability to perform vital signs assessment and assist with medical imaging when needed Certification or training in dental assisting or related fields is advantageous; ongoing professional development in areas like endodontics or prosthodontics is encouraged Embark on a rewarding career where your skills make a real difference!
