The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in dental assisting procedures, patient care, and clinic operations, with a passion for promoting oral health and delivering exceptional patient experiences. As a Dental Assistant, you will support dentists during procedures, manage patient records, and ensure the highest standards of infection control and safety are maintained throughout the clinic. This role offers an engaging environment where professionalism, compassion, and technical expertise come together to improve patient outcomes. Responsibilities Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, ensuring smooth workflow and patient comfort. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary supplies, and maintaining aseptic techniques in accordance with infection control protocols. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray imaging) while adhering to HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy and confidentiality. Manage electronic medical records (EMR systems) such as Open Dental ensuring accurate documentation of patient histories, treatment plans, and medical coding. Perform chairside assisting duties including taking vital signs, explaining procedures to patients, and providing post-treatment instructions. Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments with the dental receptionist and managing patient flow efficiently. Maintain knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology to facilitate clear communication within the team. Operate advanced dental technology including 3D scanners and medical imaging equipment to assist in diagnosis and treatment planning. Uphold infection control standards by following proper sterilization procedures and maintaining a clean clinical environment at all times. Collaborate with the team to ensure comprehensive care in specialties like pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, or endodontics while fostering a positive patient experience. Requirements Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with familiarity in general dentistry procedures and pediatric dentistry is preferred. Proficiency with EMR systems such as Open Dental; experience with Epic or similar platforms is advantageous. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations related to medical documentation and patient privacy protection. Certification in dental assisting or equivalent training; additional certifications in X-ray or medical imaging are highly desirable. Strong understanding of infection control practices, aseptic techniques, and anatomy knowledge relevant to dental procedures. Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently while demonstrating excellent communication skills with patients of all ages. Familiarity with medical terminology, medical records management, and medical coding processes for billing purposes. Experience supporting specialized areas such as prosthodontics or endodontics is a plus; pediatrics experience is highly valued. Ability to work effectively within a team environment while maintaining high standards of professionalism and compassion.
