About the
Role:
The Ortho Dental Assistant supports the orthodontist during patient care, including assisting with braces, appliances, and procedures. This role also includes preparing treatment rooms, sterilizing instruments, and ensuring smooth clinical operations. The assistant helps create a comfortable patient experience while maintaining accurate records and providing oral hygiene education.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent and a Dental Assistant certification (CDA or equivalent) required. Basic knowledge of orthodontic procedures, dental anatomy, and infection control standards is necessary. Must meet state regulations and pass a background check.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience in an orthodontic setting is preferred. Familiarity with dental software, digital imaging, and CPR/First Aid certification is a plus. Strong communication skills and additional certifications (e.g., radiography) are highly valued.
Responsibilities:
Prepare treatment rooms, sterilize instruments, and assist during orthodontic procedures such as braces placement and adjustments. Take impressions, X-rays, and maintain accurate patient records. Educate patients on oral hygiene and manage inventory while ensuring compliance with safety standards.
Skills:
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills are essential for managing patient care and clinical tasks. Excellent communication skills are needed to support patients and collaborate with the dental team. Proficiency in dental software and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment are important.
Compensation:
Pay will depend on experience and certifications.
