Prepare, dispense, and maintain dental instruments, supplies and equipment. Support clinic operations. Support administrative clinical staff. Support the educational mission of CDM. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Individuals must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job.
Knowledge:
Must have demonstrated knowledge in aseptic infection control and sterilization techniques as they relate to dental practice.
Skills:
Must be a Dental Assistant in the State of California; have a minimum of one year experience as a dental assistant. Excellent verbal, listening and written communication skills.
Abilities:
Must be able to effectively interact with health care professionals, students, and patients. Bilingual ability helpful. Proficient with computers, use of dental technology, electronic health record, printers, calculator, fax machine, copy machine operation, electronic mail, video communications programs and telephone operation. Continuous abilities in creating a safe, effective environment for patient care, and teamwork. Demonstrate a commitment to working in an organization that values and promotes humanism.
Required Qualifications Education:
Minimum:
High school diploma or equivalent Any combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Experience:
One or more years of experience as a dental assistant in a clinic, hospital clinic or dental office.
Licensure and Certification:
Current Basic Life Support certification and CA radiation safety certification. Must have completed or be able to complete within 90 days of hire: a California Dental Board approved course in the Dental Practice Act and a California Board approved course in infection control.
Preferred Qualifications Skills:
Bilingual (Spanish/English). Familiar with Denti-Cal regulations. Previous experience in dental education. Possess a dental assistant certificate from an accredited vocational school. Possess a current RDA license. Essential Job Duties Key Responsibilities Maintain infection control protocols. Preparation, dispensing and maintenance of dental instruments, supplies and equipment, for each appointment; clinic material, supply, and instrument inventory control; quality assessment and maintenance of dental instruments. Assist with regular maintenance of clinical equipment as directed. Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. Protects patients, employees, students by adhering to infection control policies and protocols. Key Responsibilities Sterilization and maintenance of dental instruments, supplies and equipment, for each appointment; clinic material, supply, and instrument inventory control; quality assessment and maintenance of dental instruments; assist with regular maintenance of clinical equipment as directed. Ensures operation of dental equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer's instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, calling for repairs to the equipment manager, maintaining equipment inventories, and evaluating new equipment and techniques Key Responsibilities Orders and maintains an adequate inventory of supplies, equipment, and materials for the CMD clinical and pre-clinical enterprises. Enter orders into the University's system for approval and processing; follow-up with appropriate Manager/Director to ensure order is placed and received in a timely fashion Key Responsibilities Reporting of equipment failures; maintain/record logs related to quality assurance and equipment operations; and instrument sterilization. Participate in required training and mandatory in-services such as BLS, infection control, and HIPAA. Participate in compliance activities such as clinic audits and infection control audits. Key Responsibilities Support the educational mission of CDM, including role modeling and teaching students how to function as a dental assistant on the dental team, both in four-handed chairside activities and in clinic operation support. Support clinical faculty in teaching students how to function as a dental provider on the dental team Key Responsibilities Other duties as assigned. Posting Details Continued Work Schedule Usual hours are Monday-Friday 8am to 5pm with the possibility of an earlier or later start time. Some evenings or weekends may be required. Maybe be required to travel to CDM clinics including but not limited to CDM sites in Pomona, El Monte, Chino Hills, and Rancho Mirage.
