The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in dental assisting procedures, with a focus on providing exceptional patient care and supporting the clinical operations of the practice. As a Dental Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring smooth workflow, maintaining high standards of infection control, and assisting with various dental procedures across general dentistry and specialized fields such as pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, and endodontics. Responsibilities Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental materials, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly in accordance with aseptic techniques. Assist dentists during a variety of procedures including chairside assisting, taking X-rays, and operating dental imaging equipment such as 3D scanners. Manage patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Take vital signs and medical histories to support comprehensive patient assessments prior to treatment. Provide patient education on oral hygiene practices, post-operative care, and treatment plans while addressing questions professionally. Support infection control protocols by adhering to strict sterilization procedures and maintaining a clean clinical environment. Collaborate with the dental team to facilitate efficient scheduling, reception duties, and medical documentation updates within Epic or similar systems. Assist with pediatric dentistry procedures when necessary, demonstrating patience and understanding for young patients. Maintain familiarity with dental terminology, medical coding, and medical records management to ensure precise documentation of treatments. Qualifications Proven experience as a Dental Assistant in a busy dental clinic environment, with knowledge of general dentistry procedures. Proficiency in EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix; experience with Epic is a plus. Strong understanding of infection control standards and aseptic techniques within a healthcare setting. Knowledge of dental imaging techniques including X-ray procedures and 3D scanning technology. Familiarity with pediatric dentistry practices and working effectively with children is preferred. Ability to accurately interpret dental terminology, medical terminology, and assist with medical documentation and coding. Excellent communication skills combined with the ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team. Certification in Dental Assisting from an accredited program is required; additional training in endodontics or prosthodontics is advantageous.
