The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in dental assisting, with specialized experience in pediatric dentistry, and demonstrate excellent clinical skills, professionalism, and a compassionate approach to patient care. This role involves providing chairside assistance, managing medical and dental documentation, and ensuring the highest standards of infection control and patient safety. The successful candidate will thrive in a dynamic environment, demonstrating flexibility and enthusiasm for working across various locations to deliver exceptional dental services to children and their families. Duties Assist pediatric dentists during procedures by preparing treatment rooms, sterilizing instruments, and providing chairside support with efficiency and precision. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray), including 3D scans when necessary, ensuring accuracy and patient comfort. Manage electronic medical records using EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic, maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality. Conduct vital signs assessments and medical history updates to ensure patient safety prior to treatment. Support infection control protocols through aseptic techniques and proper sterilization procedures in accordance with OSHA standards. Educate young patients on oral hygiene practices in a friendly manner to promote positive dental experiences. Collaborate with the dental team on four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize workflow efficiency during procedures. Assist with administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing medical documentation, and supporting the dental receptionist when needed. Maintain a thorough understanding of dental terminology related to pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and general dentistry procedures. Operate dental equipment including intraoral cameras, 3D scanners, and other medical imaging devices accurately and safely. Uphold infection control standards while supporting the overall cleanliness of the clinic environment across multiple locations. Experience Prior experience working in a pediatric dental clinic or general dentistry setting is required; experience across multiple locations is preferred. Proficiency with EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic is essential for managing medical records efficiently. Demonstrated knowledge of HIPAA regulations related to patient privacy and data security within healthcare environments. Strong understanding of dental assisting procedures including chairside support, X-ray techniques, vital signs measurement, and infection control protocols. Familiarity with pediatric-specific procedures and terminology to effectively communicate with young patients and their families. Experience with medical documentation, coding (including medical coding), and maintaining accurate medical records is advantageous. Certification in CPR or basic life support (BLS) is required; additional certifications in pediatric dentistry or advanced imaging are a plus.
