Responsibilities Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry. Prepare treatment rooms with the necessary instruments and materials, ensuring an aseptic technique to maintain infection control standards. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray) and operate medical imaging equipment such as 3D scanners to aid in accurate diagnoses. Manage patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic, ensuring all medical documentation is accurate and up-to-date. Provide chairside assistance by handing instruments, suctioning, and monitoring vital signs during procedures. Support the dental receptionist by scheduling appointments, updating medical records, and managing patient flow efficiently. Maintain knowledge of dental terminology and anatomy to communicate effectively with patients and team members. Skills Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including four-handed dentistry and infection control practices. Experience with EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic for managing medical records and documentation. Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and data security. Ability to perform X-ray procedures safely while adhering to radiation safety protocols. Knowledge of pediatric dentistry practices and working with children in a clinical setting. Familiarity with dental terminology, medical coding, and medical terminology for accurate record-keeping. Competence in using advanced dental technology such as 3D scanners and other medical imaging tools.
