Responsibilities Assist dentists during a variety of treatment procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental supplies, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray), operate medical imaging devices, and utilize 3D scanners for accurate diagnostics. Manage patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy. Conduct vital signs assessments and document medical histories accurately in medical documentation systems. Support infection control protocols through aseptic techniques and proper sterilization procedures to maintain a safe clinical environment. Collaborate with the dental reception team to ensure seamless patient flow and manage appointment scheduling effectively. Demonstrate proficiency in dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and medical coding to facilitate precise documentation and billing processes. Assist with chairside procedures by providing necessary tools, managing suction devices, and ensuring patient comfort throughout treatments. Maintain a clean, organized clinical environment while adhering to all infection control standards and OSHA guidelines. Requirements Valid certification as a Dental Assistant or RDA with current licensure in accordance with state regulations. Proven experience in dental assisting within a general dentistry or specialty practice such as pediatric dentistry or prosthodontics. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques. Proficiency in EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic; experience with medical records management is highly desirable. Ability to operate dental radiography equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners safely and effectively. Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and best practices for maintaining patient confidentiality. Excellent communication skills to interact professionally with patients of all ages, including pediatrics. Ability to perform vital signs assessments accurately and support patients through various procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques. Knowledge of medical terminology, medical imaging, medical documentation, and medical coding is advantageous. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in managing both clinical tasks and administrative duties within a busy dental clinic environment.
