In this role, you will assist dentists during procedures, ensure patient comfort, and maintain the highest standards of infection control and clinical excellence. Your energy and attention to detail will contribute to a smooth, efficient, and positive patient experience in a fast-paced dental practice dedicated to promoting oral health and wellness. Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize instruments in accordance with infection control protocols using aseptic techniques. Assist dentists chairside during various procedures such as restorations, extractions, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry. Take and develop dental X-rays, including 3D scans when applicable, ensuring proper positioning and safety measures. Manage patient records electronically using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Collect vital signs and medical history information to support comprehensive patient assessments. Provide excellent dental receptionist support by scheduling appointments, confirming patient information, and managing medical documentation efficiently. Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care instructions to promote ongoing dental health. Maintain a clean, organized clinical environment following infection control standards and OSHA guidelines for safety. Proficiency with dental software platforms including Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic for managing medical records and documentation. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and infection control procedures. Experience with chairside assisting techniques such as four-handed dentistry to enhance efficiency during procedures. Ability to operate X-ray machines safely while adhering to radiation safety protocols; familiarity with medical imaging technology including 3D scanners is a plus. Knowledge of pediatric dentistry practices and experience working with children is highly desirable. Skilled in medical coding for billing purposes and maintaining accurate medical records in compliance with HIPAA standards. Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members including dental receptionists and specialists in endodontics or prosthodontics. Demonstrated ability to follow aseptic techniques, infection control procedures, and maintain high standards of clinical hygiene.
