Orthodontic Assistant

• Duties:

• Assist orthodontists with patient exams, treatment, and other procedures.
• Prepare patients for treatment, including cleaning and disinfecting equipment, and taking x-rays and other medical imaging like 3D intraoral scans.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, adhering to HIPAA guidelines and confidentiality standards.
• Support orthodontic procedures, including fabricating appliances and adjusting retainers.
• Assist with patient education, providing information about treatment options, oral hygiene, and post-treatment care.
• Participate in sterilization and infection control procedures to ensure a clean and safe environment.

• Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Post-secondary education in dental assisting or a related field is preferred.
• Experience working in a dental clinic environment preferred but will train as needed.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and maintain a positive attitude.
• Familiarity with dental systems and technology.
• Willingness to continue to learn.
• Adherence to HIPAA regulations and confidentiality standards.
• Ability to lift and move equipment and supplies, as needed.
