Leading the Future of Dentistry Are you a motivated Dental Assistant ready to step into a leadership and mentorship role? At Pima Medical Institute, we aren't just looking for an assistant; we are looking for a visionary educator to shape the next generation of dental professionals. As a Lead Instructor at our Aurora campus, you provide the clinical experience and the passion—we provide the platform to influence program excellence and student success.
Key Responsibilities Leadership & Program Oversight Institutional Governance:
Facilitate Program Advisory Board meetings; report on student progress, externship outcomes, and feedback from the Colorado Springs dental community.
Curriculum Excellence:
Lead comprehensive curriculum reviews and recommend updates during program revision cycles to ensure students are learning the most current industry standards.
Faculty Mentorship:
Orient new hires and serve as a mentor to faculty members, ensuring consistent instructional quality and a supportive teaching environment.
Program Effectiveness:
Update and maintain Program Effectiveness Plans (PEP) annually to meet institutional and accreditation standards.
Teaching & Student Support Instructional Delivery:
Deliver dynamic, engaging lessons using varied teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles.
Academic Guidance:
Provide timely feedback (within 72 hours) on assignments and clinical work; advise students on academic or behavioral concerns to ensure they remain on track for graduation.
Clinical Supervision:
Lead lab sessions and practical demonstrations, ensuring students master four/six-handed dentistry principles and radiation safety.
Administrative & Compliance Documentation:
Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and incidents within the campus management system.
Safety & Standards:
Ensure all clinical environments meet strict OSHA/infection control standards and oversee student externships at local dental practices.
Who You Are A Clinical Expert:
You possess deep knowledge of chairside assisting, dental materials, and Colorado-specific dental practice act regulations.
A Strategic Leader:
You enjoy the administrative side of education, from coordinating faculty schedules to long-term program planning.
A Passionate Mentor:
You are dedicated to helping students bridge the gap between the classroom and a professional dental office.
Minimum Qualifications Education:
Graduation from an accredited Dental Assistant program OR a combination of three (3) years of job-related training and experience.
Experience:
Minimum of three (3) years of full-time, practical dental assisting experience.
Certification/Licensure:
Current CDA (DANB) or EDDA (Expanded Duties Dental Assistant) credentials as recognized in Colorado.
Technical Mastery:
Expertise in four/six-handed dentistry principles and proficiency in Microsoft Office/Google Workspace.
