Duties Assist dentists during a variety of treatment procedures, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry. Prepare treatment rooms with sterilized instruments and ensure all dental equipment is functioning correctly. Take and develop dental X-rays, including 3D scans, while maintaining strict infection control and aseptic techniques. Manage patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Support patients by taking vital signs, explaining procedures, and addressing questions about dental terminology or treatment plans. Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment by adhering to infection control protocols and proper disposal of medical waste. Collaborate with the dental team as part of four-handed dentistry to improve efficiency and patient comfort during procedures. Qualifications Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with knowledge of dental assisting procedures. Familiarity with EMR systems like Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic; experience with medical documentation and coding is a plus. Strong understanding of infection control practices, aseptic techniques, and anatomy knowledge relevant to dentistry. Ability to operate dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners safely and effectively. Excellent communication skills to explain procedures clearly using dental terminology suitable for pediatric patients when necessary. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and data security at all times. Certification in chairside assisting or relevant dental assisting credentials preferred; additional training in pediatrics or specialized areas like prosthodontics is advantageous.
