The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality dental care and ensuring a positive experience for our patients. As a Dental Assistant, you will work closely with dentists, dental hygienists, and office staff to support the smooth and efficient operation of the practice.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Support:
- Prepare and set up dental rooms for treatments and procedures.
- Assist the dentist during various dental procedures, including restorations, extractions, and routine cleanings.
- Sterilize and disinfect instruments and equipment, adhering to infection control protocols.
- Take and develop dental X-rays as needed.
- Make preliminary impressions for study casts and manage dental molds.
- Prepare materials for procedures, such as composites, amalgams, and cements.
Patient Care:
- Greet and prepare patients for their appointments, ensuring they feel comfortable and informed.
- Provide patients with instructions for oral care following surgery or other dental treatment procedures, such as the application of fluoride or aftercare for extractions.
- Ensure patients have a positive and stress-free experience by answering questions and addressing concerns.
Administrative Duties:
- Schedule patient appointments and manage the appointment calendar.
- Keep accurate patient records and ensure all information is updated.
- Assist with billing and coding for dental procedures.
- Maintain inventory of dental supplies and order as necessary.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques and post-treatment care.
- Collaborate with the dental team to deliver excellent patient care.
- Stay updated on new dental procedures and technologies through continued education and training.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Dental Assistant certification (CDA) or willingness to obtain certification within a specified time frame.
- Current CPR certification.
- Strong understanding of dental terminology and procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.
Preferred:
- 1-2 years of experience as a Dental Assistant.
- Experience with dental software and digital X-rays.
Skills & Abilities:
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to maintain a calm and reassuring demeanor with patients.
- Proficiency in using dental instruments, materials, and technology.
- Ability to follow infection control and safety procedures meticulously.
Working Conditions:
- Dental Assistants typically work in a clean, well-lit office environment.
- May be required to work occasional evenings or weekends based on the clinic's schedule.
- Physical stamina is required to assist with patient care, as this role involves standing for long periods, bending, and moving equipment.
