The ideal candidate will serve as the first point of contact for patients, manage scheduling, handle administrative tasks, and ensure a smooth flow of daily operations. Experience with Open Dental software and dental office management is highly preferred. Clinical experience is essential. This is a startup practice. In addition to being appointed to reception, in this role you will support clinical procedures, maintain patient comfort, and help create a seamless experience from check-in to post-treatment care. This role requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and a strong understanding of medical and dental terminology, HIPAA compliance, and insurance procedures. Key Responsibilities Answer practice phone calls Schedule appointments using Open Dental Assist with intake procedures, patient check-in/out, and updating medical/dental histories Greet patients warmly and provide exceptional patient service at the front desk Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance eligibility verification Collect payments and process dental/medical billing and coding Manage phone systems with professional phone etiquette and assist with patient inquiries Maintain accurate dental records and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations Prepare treatment rooms and assist during dental procedures (e.g. exams, fillings, crowns, extractions, Invisalign) Sterilize instruments and ensure compliance with infection control protocols Obtain and develop dental X-rays and intraoral images Record medical histories and chart treatment notes in Open Dental Educate patients on oral hygiene, post-op care, and treatment plans Manage supply inventory and assist with ordering Schedule appointments and follow up on patient inquiries Support lab processes. Practice is digital Support office management tasks including filing, data entry (10 key typing), and document review Coordinate with clinical staff to facilitate care plans and treatment scheduling Qualifications Completion of an accredited Dental Assistant program State certification for radiology CPR Certification Proficiency in dental software (e.g. Open Dental, a plus) Strong interpersonal and communication skills Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment Passion for delivering patient-centered care
Experience Essential:
prior experience in a dental or surgical environment and office management or administrative support experience in a healthcare setting. Knowledge of dental and medical terminology, dental billing and insurance. Reliability, professionalism, and a commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and practice standards. OSHA compliance Excellent patient service skills Proficiency with Open Dental software is advantageous. However, training will be provided based on need Experience with insurance verification processes Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and health information management systems
