This is a supervisory position that performs under the direct supervision of the Dentist, supervising, motivating, training and evaluating dental assistants. This individual will be responsible for all supervisory duties including, but not limited to, hiring and selection, developing performance plans, conducting performance appraisals, planning and directing their work, approving leave and taking disciplinary action as appropriate. Supervises work priorities and scheduling of daily clinics, assigning workload based on capability and clinic requirements. Directs work of dental assistants to insure maximum use of time. Supervises the overall operation of the dental clinic including scheduling patients' appointments as needed. Assists in interviewing and selecting dental assistants. Trains and supervises other dental assistants in procedures, methods, use of equipment and properties of material. Assists in development of teaching aids, making continuing education available and encouraging dental assistants to acquire new skills. Assists dentist in the treatment of patients.   • Provides written reports to the Dental Administration Office
  • Completes all mandatory training as required by supervisor

  • Uses performance management systems for program and organizational improvement to meet productivity standards
  • Monitors productivity reports and if necessary, works with the Senior Dentist to improve productivity for the clinic and ensure that the productivity criteria and measures are met as set by the Dental Program in terms of number of patients per hour, RVU, or both on a monthly average
  • Monitors program budget
  • Reviews staff EARs weekly and approves leave and time sheets in People First biweekly on Thursdays or weekly for any OPS staff
  • Completes or ensures that Superbills for each patient are completed at the end of each service 100% of the time
  • Completes and submits People First time sheets biweekly on Thursdays and EARs weekly 100% of the time
  • Attends and completes 100% of FDOH-Duval mandatory training by the specified deadlines.
