In this role, you will play a crucial part in delivering exceptional patient care by performing advanced chairside procedures, assisting with complex dental treatments, and supporting the overall efficiency of our dental practice. Your expertise in dental assisting, combined with your knowledge of dental technologies and infection control protocols, will help ensure a smooth and positive experience for every patient. Duties Assist dentists during a variety of procedures including surgery, restorations, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry with precision and confidence. Perform expanded functions such as placing temporary fillings, applying sealants, taking impressions, and fabricating temporary crowns under dentist supervision. Operate dental equipment including X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and medical imaging devices while adhering to safety standards. Manage electronic health records using Open Dental, ensuring accurate documentation of patient information and treatment plans. Take vital signs and medical history to support comprehensive patient assessments in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Maintain strict infection control protocols using aseptic techniques and knowledge of anatomy to ensure a sterile environment. Collaborate seamlessly with the dental team in four-handed dentistry setups to optimize patient care efficiency. Assist with medical documentation, coding procedures for insurance claims, and managing medical records securely. Support the dental receptionist by coordinating appointment scheduling and patient flow to enhance clinic productivity. Requirements Proven experience as a Dental Assistant with expanded functions certification (EFDA) or equivalent qualification. Proficiency in dental terminology, medical terminology, and understanding of anatomy relevant to dentistry. Familiarity with dental software such as Open Dental for managing electronic health records. Knowledge of infection control practices, aseptic technique, and sterilization procedures within a dental clinic setting. Ability to operate X-ray equipment safely and accurately capture high-quality images for diagnostic purposes. Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients, team members, and external healthcare providers. Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently while maintaining a positive attitude in a fast-paced environment.
