Job Description
Our clinic is looking for a motivated individual to join our team as an Oral Surgery Assistant. We provide quality care to patients, with a focus on developing lasting, trusted relationships between patients and staff . As an Oral Surgery Assistant, you will assist with pre-surgical care and education, vital tasks during surgeries, and post-surgical care . During surgeries, you will monitor vital signs, do blood draws, start IV's (we will train you if you are not experienced, but you must be willing to put in the time to study and practice) and anesthesiology equipment, provide chairside assistance to the surgeon, sterilize and store instruments after use. You may also perform other clerical tasks as required. The ideal candidate should be able to work independently with minimal supervision. We are seeking someone who is motivated , efficient , detail oriented , organized , and has excellent communication skills . We are an extremely busy and efficient office; we are looking for a strong assistant to add onto our clinical team.
Oral Surgery Assistant Requirements:
Radiography certification. At least six months of dental assisting experience is required. Sound knowledge of how to use surgical equipment, instruments, and materials. A good understanding of surgical techniques, chairside responsibilities, and health and safety protocols. An excellent understanding of dental records, charts, and documentation. Great organizational and time management skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. The ability to provide excellent patient care, even under stressful circumstances. Consistent professionalism in appearance and attitude. You must be up to date with BLS certification by your start date. Prior dental assisting experience required, preferably in an oral surgery environment but willing to train the right candidate. Prior use of WIN OMS or similar OMS software.Oral Surgery Assistant Responsibilities:
Occasionally performing administrative tasks such as appointment scheduling, charting, and filing as it pertains to the clinical side. Preparing / auditing patient charts after each visit. Operating X-ray and 3D scanning equipment and developing radiographs for diagnostic purposes. Preparing and sterilizing surgical instruments, materials, and equipment in accordance with infection control and biohazard protocols. Preparing implant parts per the procedure's requirements. Assisting the surgeon with all chairside procedures including OR setup, anesthesia administration, and cleanup. Preparing patients for surgery and monitoring vital signs during procedures. Providing patients with information on postoperative outcomes. Monitoring our stock of surgical supplies and medication and replenishing these, as needed. Ensuring that instruments and equipment are effectively maintained. Providing excellent patient care at all times. What can our practice offer you: Regular on the job training.
