Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and highly skilled Lead Dental Assistant to join our vibrant dental team. In this pivotal role, you will oversee daily clinical operations, support the dental team in delivering exceptional patient care, and ensure the highest standards of infection control and patient safety. Your leadership will help foster a welcoming environment where patients feel comfortable and cared for, while also streamlining clinic workflows to maximize efficiency. Duties Lead and coordinate chairside assisting during a variety of dental procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry. Manage and train dental assisting staff on best practices, infection control protocols, aseptic techniques, and use of dental equipment such as 3D scanners and medical imaging devices. Oversee the proper use of EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems Denticon and Apteryx to ensure accurate documentation of medical and dental records, medical coding, and treatment plans. Support the dental team with vital signs measurement, X-ray procedures, and maintaining a sterile environment following HIPAA regulations. Assist with administrative duties including coordinating with the dental receptionist, managing appointment schedules, and ensuring smooth clinic operations. Ensure compliance with all infection control standards, including proper sterilization techniques and knowledge of anatomy to assist with complex procedures. Maintain proficiency in dental terminology, medical terminology, and medical documentation to facilitate effective communication within the team. Requirements Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or in a similar role within a dental clinic environment. Strong knowledge of dental assisting procedures including chairside assisting, X-ray taking, vital signs monitoring, and infection control practices. Familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, Epic or similar platforms; experience with 3D scanners and medical imaging tools is preferred. Understanding of HIPAA regulations related to patient privacy and data security. Ability to perform medical documentation accurately using medical coding standards; experience with electronic health records is essential. Knowledge of pediatric dentistry principles and experience working with pediatric patients is highly desirable.
