Responsibilities Prepare treatment rooms with sterilized instruments and materials, ensuring aseptic technique and infection control standards are met. Assist dentists during various procedures such as restorations, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry, providing chairside support with precision and efficiency. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray) while adhering to HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy. Manage patient records accurately using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft, including updating medical history and documenting procedures. Educate patients on oral health care practices, post-treatment instructions, and preventive measures to promote overall dental wellness. Conduct vital signs assessments and medical imaging as needed to support comprehensive patient evaluations. Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments with the dental receptionist, managing medical documentation, and assisting with insurance coding processes. Qualifications Proven experience in dental assisting within a general or specialized dentistry setting; familiarity with pediatric dentistry is a plus. Proficiency in dental software systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic for managing medical records and documentation. Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control protocols, and aseptic techniques essential for safe practice. Ability to perform X-ray procedures accurately while maintaining patient safety standards. Strong understanding of medical terminology, medical coding, and HIPAA compliance to ensure confidentiality and proper documentation. Experience with advanced imaging tools like 3D scanners is advantageous for supporting prosthodontics or endodontic treatments. Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages, especially pediatrics, fostering trust and comfort throughout their visit.
