In this role, you will serve as a vital link between patients and the dental care team, providing exceptional support during dental procedures and ensuring a smooth, comfortable experience for every patient. Duties Assist dentists during a variety of procedures including general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, and endodontics, ensuring four-handed dentistry techniques are applied efficiently. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and setting up necessary supplies in accordance with infection control and aseptic techniques. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray), utilizing medical imaging equipment such as 3D scanners when applicable, while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy. Manage electronic medical records (EMR systems) like Dentrix, Eaglesoft, and Epic to accurately document patient information, treatment plans, and medical documentation. Perform vital signs assessment and monitor patient comfort throughout procedures; assist with chairside assisting by handing instruments and managing dental terminology for clarity. Support the dental receptionist by scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and managing patient flow efficiently. Maintain a clean, organized clinic environment following infection control standards; ensure all medical records and medical coding are up-to-date for compliance purposes. Educate patients on oral health practices and post-treatment care in both English and the second language to enhance understanding and compliance. Qualifications Proven experience as a Dental Assistant in a busy dental clinic setting with knowledge of general dentistry procedures. Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish; excellent communication skills are essential for effective patient interaction. Familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix, OpenDental; experience with medical records management is preferred. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, infection control protocols, aseptic techniques, and anatomy relevant to dentistry. Ability to operate X-ray equipment safely; experience with 3D scanners or other advanced imaging technology is a plus. Strong understanding of dental terminology, medical terminology, and medical coding practices related to dentistry. Demonstrated ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently while maintaining high standards of infection control. Knowledge of pediatric dentistry principles is advantageous; experience working with pediatric patients is preferred.
