Job Description

SHORT DESCRIPTION
Dalton Dental is hiring a full-time Dental Assistant to join our boutique private practice in South Tampa. This is a strong fit for a Florida EFDA with radiology certification who enjoys chairside assisting, digital radiographs, cosmetic dentistry, periodontal procedures, treatment planning, and creating an excellent patient experience. Our practice has a cosmetic and periodontal specialty focus, a fun family-like team, and a true work-life-fun balance. You will work a Monday through Thursday schedule, with Wednesdays ending earlier and Fridays off, and receive training in Dentrix Ascend, digital x-ray, iTero scanning, office systems, and periodontal procedures. Starting pay is $18/hour, with higher pay considered based on experience and bonus potential available. This is an opportunity to be more than the assistant in the room. In a small private practice, your chairside skills, positive energy, flexibility, and patient communication can directly help patients feel comfortable, help the doctor stay productive, and help the practice grow.
FULL JOB DESCRIPTIONABOUT US
Dalton Dental is a boutique private dental practice in South Tampa led by Hilary Dalton, DMD. We provide general, cosmetic, and periodontal dentistry, including smile-focused care, restorative dentistry, periodontal procedures, and advanced cosmetic services. Our practice combines advanced dental technology, high clinical standards, and a warm, relaxing, fun office environment. Patients are treated like family, and our team works hard to make each person feel comfortable, informed, and well cared for. We are a small, private practice with a positive team culture. This is not a large corporate setting where you disappear into the background. The right Dental Assistant can become a very important part of the patient experience and the success of the practice.
ABOUT THE POSITION
We are looking for a full-time Dental Assistant to assist Dr. Dalton chairside and help create excellent patient experiences. This role is expected to open around July. The ideal candidate already has chairside dental assisting experience, Florida EFDA certification, radiology certification, and comfort with digital dental technology. We will also consider someone newer if they have completed a Dental Assisting program and already have EFDA and Florida radiology certifications. Because we are a cosmetic and periodontal focused practice, this can be a rewarding position for someone who wants to keep building real clinical skill while working with a supportive, upbeat team.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Assist Dr. Dalton chairside during patient care. Perform expanded functions within your certification and training. Take digital radiographs and help maintain accurate patient records. Help prepare patients, rooms, instruments, and materials for treatment. Assist with cosmetic, restorative, and periodontal procedures. Support temporary crown and veneer procedures. Use or learn Dentrix Ascend, the digital x-ray system, and the iTero scanner. Help with treatment planning support and patient education. Participate in scheduling support when needed. Help patients feel comfortable, respected, and confident about their care. Communicate honestly and comfortably with patients, including appropriate treatment and financial conversations when trained. Keep treatment areas organized, stocked, clean, and ready for the next patient. Work as part of a cheerful, supportive team that helps each other throughout the day.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Florida EFDA certification is required. Florida radiology certification is required. Completion of a Dental Assisting program is preferred. Chairside dental assisting experience is preferred and will receive strong consideration. Dentrix or Dentrix Ascend experience is preferred. Experience with digital radiographs and general office computer programs is helpful. Temporary crown and veneer skills are a plus. Comfort with treatment planning and patient financial conversations is helpful. A positive, outgoing, cheerful personality is very important. A flexible, pleasant attitude with the doctor, team, and patients is essential. Honesty, reliability, good communication, and willingness to support the team matter here.
TRAINING PROVIDED
Dentrix Ascend practice management software. Digital x-ray system and office-specific technology. iTero scanner training. Office systems, policies, and patient flow. Periodontal procedure support. Practice-specific treatment planning and patient communication.
HOURS, PAY, AND BENEFITS
Full-time position.
Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday:
7:45 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Wednesday:
7:45 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Some schedule flexibility may be available. Fridays off under the current office schedule. Starting pay is $18/hour, with higher pay considered according to experience. Bonus potential is available. Holidays and planned winter and spring or summer office breaks. Supportive team culture with respect for work-life balance. Possible front desk cross-training for the right person.
WHY THIS IS A GOOD OPPORTUNITY
You can work in a boutique private practice instead of a large corporate environment. You can be part of a cosmetic and periodontal focused office where you will see interesting care, advanced procedures, and meaningful smile transformations. You can work with a team that values positive energy, encouragement, and support for one another. You can have a Monday through Thursday schedule, earlier Wednesdays, Fridays off, and planned office breaks. You can use your chairside skills, patient communication, and expanded functions to make a visible difference every day.
