Duties Assist dentists chairside during examinations, procedures, and treatments with precision and confidence. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary supplies, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), including 3D scans when applicable, adhering strictly to safety protocols. Manage patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Dentrix or Epic, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Support infection control practices through aseptic techniques and proper sterilization procedures to maintain a safe clinical environment. Provide excellent customer service as a dental receptionist by scheduling appointments, confirming patient details, and answering inquiries professionally. Assist with medical documentation, coding procedures for insurance claims, and maintaining detailed medical records for each patient. Support pediatric dentistry cases by adapting communication styles and assisting with age-specific needs while maintaining a friendly atmosphere. Perform vital signs assessments and medical imaging to assist in comprehensive patient evaluations. Collaborate seamlessly in four-handed dentistry setups to enhance efficiency during procedures. Maintain knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, prosthodontics, endodontics, and general dentistry practices to support clinical excellence. Qualifications Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or in a similar dental clinic setting with familiarity in dental assisting duties. Proficiency with EMR systems such as Dentrix or Epic; experience with Eaglesoft is a plus. Strong understanding of infection control protocols and aseptic techniques within dental environments. Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and medical coding standards. Ability to operate dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners safely and effectively. Excellent communication skills to interact confidently with patients of all ages, especially in pediatric dentistry contexts. Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure the confidentiality of medical records and patient information. Ability to work efficiently in general dentistry procedures as well as specialized fields like prosthodontics or endodontics. Certification in radiography or X-ray technology preferred; ongoing training in medical documentation is advantageous.
