Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) to join our dynamic dental team. In this vital role, you will support the delivery of comprehensive dental care by performing advanced chairside procedures, assisting with complex treatments, and ensuring the highest standards of infection control and patient safety. Your expertise will help create a welcoming environment where patients feel cared for and confident in their oral health journey. This position offers an exciting opportunity to utilize your dental assisting skills in a fast-paced, patient-centered setting that values professionalism, efficiency, and compassionate care. Duties Perform expanded functions such as coronal polishing, placing temporary crowns, and applying sealants under the supervision of the dentist. Assist with a variety of dental procedures including restorative, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry treatments. Take and develop dental X-rays, including 3D scans, ensuring proper technique and patient comfort. Manage electronic medical records (EMR systems) such as Eaglesoft and Dentrix, ensuring accurate documentation of patient information, treatment plans, and medical history in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Prepare treatment rooms with appropriate instruments and materials while maintaining aseptic technique and infection control standards. Monitor vital signs and assess patient comfort before, during, and after procedures to ensure safety and well-being. Collaborate seamlessly in four-handed dentistry setups to enhance efficiency and reduce procedure times. Support the dental receptionist by scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and managing patient flow smoothly. Maintain proficiency in dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, medical coding, and medical documentation to ensure precise communication and recordkeeping. Skills Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with familiarity in general dentistry procedures. Strong knowledge of infection control protocols, aseptic techniques, and sterilization processes. Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix; experience with Epic or other medical documentation software is a plus. Ability to operate dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners confidently. Excellent understanding of dental terminology, anatomy, pediatric dentistry practices, prosthodontics, endodontics, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry. Skilled in chairside assisting techniques with a focus on patient comfort and safety during complex procedures. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality of medical records and compliance with privacy standards. Effective communication skills suitable for working with diverse patient populations including pediatrics; experience as a dental receptionist is advantageous. $26.62 - $30.00 per hour
