Job Description
The Dental Assistant is an integral part of the dental team, providing essential support through various clinical procedures, patient care, and administrative duties.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Prepares treatment rooms, instruments, and materials. Assists providers during clinical procedures and maintains operating field. Prepares patients, obtains medical and dental histories with vitals and ensures patient comfort for treatment. Documents procedures and clinical information in patient records. Sterilizes and maintains instruments and equipment. Provides patient education on oral hygiene and postoperative care. Maintains supplies, equipment, and clinic readiness as instructed by the lead dental assistant.
ADDITIONAL RESPONBILITIES
Other duties as assigned by the Lead Dental Assistant or Director of Dental.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS
Required:
High School Diploma or GED. Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks accurately. Basic computer skills and ability to learn electronic medical records systems.
Preferred:
Dental Assisting Certificate. One year of dental office experience. Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
WORKING CONDITIONS/ PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Frequent standing, sitting, and walking. Repetitive use of hands and fine motor skills for dental procedures and equipment. Occasional bending, stooping, reaching, and lifting up to 25 pounds. Exposure to clinical environment, including possible exposure to bodily fluids.
