We believe music has the power to build connection and community and want to provide a personalized touch to every patient visit. As a brand-new practice, we're not just filling a role — we're building a team and a culture from the ground up. Job Summary We're looking for a warm, dependable, and experienced Pediatric Dental Assistant to help us deliver an exceptional experience for every child and family who walks through our doors. You'll be providing clinical support during exams and procedures while helping create the kind of comfort-first, joyful visit that sets Songbird apart. Because we're a startup, this role won't look like a typical dental assistant job at an established practice. Our team is small, our days will vary, and the way we work will keep evolving as we learn what our patients and practice need. We're looking for someone who's energized by that — someone who can move between tasks, pitch in outside their usual lane when needed, and help build smart, simple systems. The ideal candidate will be cross trained to work on the administrative side and/or is open to doing so. Duties Provide chairside assistance during various pediatric dental procedures, including exams, cleanings, restorations, utilizing four-handed dentistry techniques for efficiency. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary supplies are ready for patient appointments, adhering to infection control and aseptic techniques. Take dental radiographs (X-ray), ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed to protect young patients from radiation exposure. Record detailed medical and dental histories and imaging data accurately within the practice management software maintaining HIPAA compliance at all times. Manage patient flow by greeting families warmly as a dental receptionist, scheduling appointments, and updating medical records with precision. Educate children and their guardians on oral hygiene practices tailored to pediatric needs, fostering positive attitudes toward dental care Help children and parents feel calm, informed, and comfortable before, during, and after appointments Manage and track dental supplies and inventory Step in on non-clinical tasks as needed — front desk coverage, patient check-in, administrative support, or helping set up new systems and processes as the practice grows Must be proficient in English (written & verbal) Help bring Songbird's brand to life in every patient interaction — warm, playful, and reassuring, never clinical or cold What We're Looking For 1-2 year experience working in a Pediatric Dental setting A genuine love for working with kids and an instinct for making them feel at ease Strong communication skills with both children and parents Comfort with technology and a willingness to learn new tools and systems Experience with Archy preferred not required Certifications required: Coronal Polishing Certifications preferred: Sealant Certified and nitrous oxide administration preferred but not required Flexibility and adaptability above all else. As a startup, our workflows, schedules, and responsibilities will shift as we grow. We need someone who sees that as an opportunity, not a frustration — who can adjust on the fly, problem-solve in the moment, and help build structure where it doesn't exist yet A collaborative, no-task-too-small attitude — in a small practice, everyone pitches in Schedule Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 8:30 AM-5:00 PM, with an 8:40 AM daily team huddle. Saturday half-days will be required 1-2x/month — flexibility around future schedule evolution is a plus.
