We pride ourselves on creating a welcoming environment for children and families alike. We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of dental procedures and terminology, along with excellent chairside manner and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. This role is essential in providing quality care to our patients, ensuring their comfort and safety during dental procedures. Duties Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures, utilizing four-handed dentistry techniques. Prepare and maintain the treatment area, ensuring compliance with infection control protocols and aseptic techniques. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) while adhering to safety standards. Manage patient records, including medical documentation and medical records, while ensuring HIPAA compliance. Utilize electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Open Dental, Dextrix for patient management and documentation. Conduct preliminary assessments, including taking vital signs and recording medical histories. Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, post-operative care, and treatment plans. Assist with pediatric dentistry procedures, demonstrating patience and understanding when working with children. Collaborate with the dental receptionist to schedule appointments and manage patient flow efficiently. Stay current with advancements in dental technology, including 3D scanning and medical imaging. Requirements Previous experience as a Dental Assistant or in a dental clinic setting is preferred. Proficiency in using EMR systems; familiarity with Open Dental is a plus. Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques. Experience in chairside assisting for various dental specialties such as general dentistry, orthodontics, and pediatrics is highly desirable. Ability to take X-rays and perform basic medical imaging tasks while adhering to safety protocols. Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients and team members. Attention to detail with excellent organizational skills for managing medical documentation and records. Understanding of medical coding is beneficial but not required.
