Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care while assisting the dentist in various procedures. This position requires a strong understanding of dental terminology, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Experience with EMR systems and familiarity with pediatric dentistry will be highly valued. Duties Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures, ensuring a smooth workflow. Prepare and maintain the treatment area, including sterilization of instruments and adherence to infection control protocols. Take and develop dental X-rays while ensuring patient safety and comfort. Record patient medical history, vital signs, and other relevant information accurately in medical documentation. Utilize dental software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for managing patient records and appointments. Provide chairside assistance during various dental procedures, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry. Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care. Manage inventory of dental supplies and assist with ordering as needed. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations regarding patient confidentiality. Qualifications Previous experience as a Dental Assistant or in a similar role is preferred. Proficiency in EMR systems; familiarity with Eaglesoft or Dentrix is a plus. Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and procedures is essential. Experience with four-handed dentistry techniques and medical imaging is advantageous. Strong understanding of infection control practices and aseptic techniques. Ability to take accurate vital signs and perform basic medical documentation tasks. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients of all ages. A background in pediatrics or experience working in a dental clinic setting is desirable. Certification in dental assisting is preferred but not mandatory.
