Baton Rouge, LA Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated EDDA (Expanded Duties Dental Assistant) to join our brand new pediatric dental practice in Baton Rouge. As an Expanded Duty Dental Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional dental care to our young patients while supporting the clinical operations of the rest of the clinical team and working as an extension of the doctor .
Responsibilities:
  • Assist pediatric dentists during dental procedures, ensuring patient comfort and safety at all times.
  • Perform expanded duties including coronal polishing, sealant application, and fluoride treatments.
  • Manage and maintain dental equipment, instruments, and supplies to ensure efficient clinical operations.
  • Train, mentor, and supervise dental assistant team members to uphold practice standards and protocols.
  • Coordinate patient scheduling, ensuring optimal use of clinical hours and timely patient flow.
  • Educate patients and families on oral hygiene techniques and post-treatment care.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Collaborate with front office staff to optimize patient experience and resolve scheduling or administrative issues.
  • Uphold infection control protocols and standards to maintain a safe clinical environment.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned to support the overall functioning of the practice.
Requirements:
  • EDDA certification from an accredited program.
  • Proven experience of at least 1 year minimum as an expanded duty dental assistant in a pediatric or family dental practice.
  • Excellent technical skills with proficiency in dental procedures and equipment operation.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, parents, and team members.
  • Leadership qualities with the ability to motivate and guide a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities to manage clinical operations efficiently.
  • Knowledge of dental software systems (experience with Dentrix is a plus).
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development in the field of pediatric dentistry.
