Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Dental Assistant to join our vibrant dental team. In this role, you will play a vital part in delivering exceptional patient care by providing chairside assistance, managing clinical procedures, and ensuring a smooth flow within the dental practice. Responsibilities Assist the dentist during a variety of treatment procedures, including general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, endodontics, prosthodontics, and other specialties. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary supplies, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly following infection control protocols and aseptic techniques. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), including 3D scans when applicable, ensuring accurate medical imaging for diagnosis and treatment planning. Manage patient records efficiently using electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations for patient privacy and data security. Perform vital signs assessments and document medical history accurately to support comprehensive patient care. Support the dental receptionist by scheduling appointments, confirming patient information, and managing medical documentation and records. Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment while adhering to infection control standards and anatomy knowledge to ensure safety for patients and staff. Assist with medical coding and documentation related to dental procedures, ensuring accuracy for billing purposes. Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, treatment plans, and post-treatment care to enhance their understanding of dental health. Qualifications Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or in a similar dental clinic setting with knowledge of dental terminology and procedures. Proficiency in using EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix; familiarity with Epic or other medical documentation platforms is a plus. Strong understanding of infection control practices, aseptic technique, anatomy knowledge, and sterilization procedures. Ability to operate dental equipment including X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and other medical imaging tools safely and effectively. Excellent communication skills to interact confidently with patients of all ages, especially pediatrics, while demonstrating empathy and professionalism. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality of patient information at all times. Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently during various dental procedures with a focus on four-handed dentistry techniques. Basic understanding of medical terminology, medical records management, and medical coding processes related to dental care. Certification in CPR or BLS is preferred; additional certifications in pediatric dentistry or endodontics are advantageous.
