Full Job Description Overview:
The Tufts University Advancement Division seeks a dynamic and collaborative development professional to serve as Assistant Director of Annual Giving for Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. Tufts University Advancement (UA) is a comprehensive development and alumni engagement enterprise responsible for building strong relationships with Tufts constituents, matching donor interests with university priorities, and securing philanthropic support that advances the university's mission. The Division is committed to fostering a culture of philanthropy grounded in integrity, collaboration, accountability, inclusion, and donor-centered engagement.
What You'll Do:
The Tufts University School of Dental Medicine Annual Fund raises both unrestricted and restricted support annually to advance student scholarships, patient care, faculty support, research, and school priorities. The Assistant Director of Annual Giving will support strategic annual giving initiatives focused on donor engagement, reunion fundraising, volunteer management, leadership annual giving, stewardship, and multichannel fundraising efforts. Under the supervision of the Director of Annual Giving, the Assistant Director of Annual Giving will assist in the planning and implementation of annual giving programs and activities. This position will support reunion fundraising efforts, donor stewardship, volunteer engagement, annual giving communications, and leadership annual giving outreach. The Assistant Director will develop, manage, and build relationships with alumni, donors, volunteers, students, and friends of the school. They will assist in cultivating, soliciting, stewarding, and qualifying annual fund and leadership annual giving donors through strategic outreach and relationship management. Supporting annual fund fundraising initiatives through direct outreach, reunion engagement, stewardship, email appeals, and multichannel communications. Assisting with management and engagement of Reunion Co-Chairs volunteers, including volunteer recruitment, training, stewardship, and fundraising support. Supporting and enhancing the Dean's Inner Circle (DIC) and DIC 3-Year programs through strategic outreach, stewardship, tracking, and donor engagement. Assisting with reunion fundraising strategy, donor participation efforts, challenge initiatives, and volunteer-driven solicitations. Writing and coordinating donor-facing communications, stewardship messaging, reunion outreach, and annual fund appeals. Maintaining accurate documentation, donor activity, reports, and fundraising tracking within university systems. Partnering collaboratively with colleagues across Development, Alumni Engagement, Donor Relations, and Advancement Services to support overall fundraising priorities. Assisting with special events, alumni engagement activities, and Annual Fund initiatives as assigned.
What We're Looking For:
Basic Requirements:
Knowledge and experience typically acquired by: Bachelor's degree 3-5 years of related experience, preferably in higher education, nonprofit fundraising, alumni relations, or development Knowledge of annual giving and donor engagement best practices. Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a collaborative and deadline-driven environment. Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records and reporting.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience managing volunteers, reunion programs, or annual giving initiatives. Experience writing fundraising communications and stewardship materials. Familiarity with donor databases, fundraising platforms, and advancement systems. Demonstrated ability to build relationships with alumni, donors, and volunteers. Commitment to collaborative teamwork and donor-centric engagement.
Salary Range:
Minimum $60,000.00, Midpoint $75,000.00, Maximum $90,100.00
