Must have at least 3 years of experience. This is full-time or part-time ( 3 days minimum) position at well-established general office in Lynn, MA. Not a chain location. No late nights or early mornings, but we start at 9 AM. We require full day commitment, no short days. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in dental assisting procedures, excellent patient communication skills, and a thorough understanding of dental terminology and infection control protocols. As a Dental Assistant, you will support the delivery of high-quality dental care by preparing treatment areas, assisting dentists during procedures, and managing patient records with precision and professionalism. This role offers an opportunity to work in a collaborative environment focused on patient comfort and clinical excellence. Responsibilities Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments, supplies, and sterilization procedures in accordance with aseptic technique standards. Assist dentists during various procedures including restorative, endodontic, prosthodontic, and pediatric dentistry treatments. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray) ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed. Manage patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Perform vital signs assessments and document medical history to support comprehensive patient care. Provide chairside assistance by handing instruments, managing suction devices, and ensuring smooth workflow during procedures. Educate patients on post-treatment care, dental terminology, and preventive practices to promote oral health awareness. Maintain infection control standards by adhering to sterilization protocols and proper handling of medical imaging equipment including 3D scanners when applicable. Support the dental reception team by scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and managing medical documentation efficiently. Demonstrate knowledge of general dentistry procedures as well as specialized fields such as pediatric dentistry, endodontics, prosthodontics, and anatomy to assist effectively across diverse treatments. Experience Prior experience working in a dental clinic environment with familiarity in dental assisting duties is required. Proficiency in using EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for managing medical records and documentation is essential. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations related to patient privacy and data security must be demonstrated. Experience performing X-ray procedures safely while maintaining infection control standards is necessary. Background in pediatric dentistry or pediatrics is preferred but not mandatory; however, familiarity with pediatric-specific protocols is advantageous. Strong understanding of dental terminology, medical terminology, and medical coding practices supports accurate record-keeping. Hands-on experience with chairside assisting techniques including four-handed dentistry enhances clinical efficiency. Knowledge of infection control practices, aseptic techniques, anatomy fundamentals, and use of 3D scanners or other advanced imaging tools is highly valued.
