Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking to add a highly skilled and motivated Lead Dental Assistant to oversee clinical operations within our dental practice. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in dental assisting, with a strong focus on leadership, patient care, and administrative support. As the Lead Dental Assistant, you will coordinate daily clinical activities, ensure compliance with health regulations, and support the dental team in delivering exceptional patient experiences. Your expertise in dental terminology, electronic health record (EHR) systems, and various dental specialties will be essential to your success in this role. Duties Supervise and mentor dental assistants and support staff to promote a cohesive and efficient clinical environment. Assist with patient assessments, including vital signs and medical history documentation, ensuring accurate medical records. Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize equipment in accordance with infection control protocols and HIPAA regulations. Support dentists during procedures across general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, pediatric dentistry, and other specialties. Manage electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix to ensure precise medical documentation and coding. Educate patients on treatment plans, post-operative care, and dental terminology to foster understanding and compliance. Coordinate appointment scheduling with the front desk team, including dental receptionist duties when necessary. Maintain compliance with all regulatory standards related to medical documentation, HIPAA privacy rules, and safety procedures. Requirements Proven experience as a Dental Assistant with a minimum of several years in a busy dental clinic environment. Demonstrated leadership skills with prior experience supervising clinical staff or leading a dental team. Proficiency in EHR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for managing patient records and medical coding. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and procedures across multiple specialties including pediatric dentistry and prosthodontics. Ability to perform patient assessments including vital signs and medical history review accurately. Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality at all times. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in managing medical documentation and records. Experience with dental office operations, including appointment scheduling and front desk collaboration is preferred.
