Duties Assist orthodontists during various procedures, including bracket placement, wire adjustments, and appliance fittings using four-handed dentistry techniques. Prepare treatment rooms with the necessary instruments and materials, ensuring all equipment is sterilized and ready for use following infection control protocols. Take and develop dental X-rays and 3D scans while maintaining proper aseptic technique and ensuring patient safety through accurate vital signs monitoring. Manage patient records efficiently using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring HIPAA compliance at all times. Educate patients on orthodontic care instructions, appliance maintenance, and oral hygiene practices tailored to pediatric dentistry needs. Support the dental receptionist by scheduling appointments, updating medical documentation, and assisting with insurance or medical coding as needed. Maintain a thorough understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and specialized procedures in orthodontics, prosthodontics, endodontics, and general dentistry to provide comprehensive support. Experience Previous experience working in a dental clinic environment is highly preferred, especially within pediatric dentistry or orthodontics. Proficiency with dental assisting tools and techniques including chairside assisting, X-ray imaging, and infection control practices. Familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft for managing medical records and documentation. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and data security. Ability to perform vital signs assessment and medical imaging accurately while adhering to aseptic techniques. Experience with dental terminology, medical terminology, and understanding of dental procedures across various specialties such as prosthodontics and endodontics is advantageous. Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment dedicated to delivering exceptional orthodontic care.
