Duties Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments, supplies, and materials before patient appointments. Assist dentists during various procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry. Take and develop dental X-rays using advanced medical imaging equipment such as 3D scanners and traditional radiography tools. Ensure infection control protocols are strictly followed through aseptic techniques and proper sterilization procedures. Manage medical documentation by accurately recording patient information, medical history, vital signs, and treatment details in electronic health records (EHR) systems like Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic. Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, updating medical records, and acting as a dental receptionist when needed. Maintain knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical coding to ensure precise communication and documentation. Assist with patient education on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care instructions tailored for pediatric patients when applicable. Skills Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic for managing medical records efficiently. Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy and confidentiality. Experience with dental X-ray procedures and the operation of medical imaging equipment including 3D scanners. Knowledge of infection control standards and aseptic techniques essential for maintaining a safe clinical environment. Ability to perform chairside assisting with competence in four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize procedure flow. Familiarity with dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and the specifics of pediatric dentistry to effectively support diverse patient needs. Excellent communication skills to interact professionally with patients, parents in pediatrics, and team members alike. Capable of handling administrative duties such as managing medical documentation, coordinating appointments, and supporting the dental receptionist role when necessary.
