Responsibilities Assist dentists during various procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, ensuring all instruments and materials are prepared and sterilized according to infection control protocols. Take and develop dental X-rays using digital imaging technology such as 3D scanners and medical imaging equipment, ensuring accuracy and patient safety. Manage patient records efficiently using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems like Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy. Support patients by taking vital signs, explaining procedures, and addressing questions with professionalism and empathy. Maintain a sterile environment through aseptic techniques, proper infection control practices, and knowledge of anatomy to assist with chairside procedures confidently. Handle administrative duties such as scheduling appointments as a dental receptionist, managing medical documentation, coding procedures accurately for billing purposes, and updating medical records. Collaborate seamlessly with the team in four-handed dentistry practices to enhance efficiency and patient comfort during treatments. Skills Proficiency with dental software platforms including Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic for scheduling, documentation, and record management. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control standards, and aseptic techniques essential for safe practice. Experience with X-ray techniques, medical imaging tools, and 3D scanners to support accurate diagnostics. Familiarity with HIPAA compliance and medical coding processes to ensure confidentiality and proper billing procedures. Ability to perform chairside assisting confidently across various specialties such as pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and general dentistry. Excellent communication skills for explaining procedures to patients of all ages—especially pediatrics—and working effectively with the dental team. Knowledge of medical terminology related to dental care and the ability to interpret medical documentation accurately.
