Part-time, Full-time Chairside Assistant Job Description Position Summary:
The Chairside Assistant plays a key role in the promotion and productivity of our practice. Under Direct and Indirect Supervision, the chairside assistant will assist the Dentist, Dental Hygienist, and other Dental Assistants in both administrative and clinical duties. Provide patient and practice support services; including, but not limited to, personal assistance, medical attention, and emotional support. Daily Duties Escort Patients to operatories and answer any general questions or forward Patient questions or concerns to Practice Dentists when necessary. Go over Medical History Timely prepare treatment area by sterilizing, positioning, and delivering instruments for dentist's access. Actively provide hand instruments and materials to Dentist, Hygienist, or other Dental Assistant, as needed, during exams and procedures in order to help maintain patient comfort and Dentist's efficiency. Using and maintaining hazard control protocols as established by OSHA and office standards. Assists with preparing and presenting patient and office production statistics and reports. Assists with confirming appointments scheduling patients for procedures when needed. Enter procedure notes into the patient chart.
Lab Cases:
create and attach to appointments, submit and check in. Other duties and tasks, as assigned periodically.

Always maintain the highest level of confidentiality to HIPAA standards. Adhere to strict safety guidelines and procedures to OSHA and office standards. Must be detail oriented in order to work efficiently in small spaces and maintain patient comfort. Must be flexible and understand that job duties may change from time to time and that you may be asked to "help out" in other areas of the office. Must excel in forward thinking in order to anticipate the needs of the dentist as well as the patient. Must have a pleasant personality and positive attitude as a representative of the practice. Must have the ability to relate to all "walks of life" through verbal and non-verbal means. Must demonstrate active listening
- Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times. Must demonstrate excellent communication skills
- both in written and verbal form; talking to others to convey information effectively. Equipment Maintenance
- Performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
Must actively participate in the promotion of the practice through referrals, team meetings and positive influence on others.
Experience and Education:
High School Diploma or G.E.D. Certificate. Preferred diploma or certificate from an approved and/or accredited program. one year dental assisting experience a must.
