Job Summary Join our dynamic dental team as an Orthodontic Registered Dental Assistant, where your expertise will help create confident smiles and improve patient lives. In this energized role, you will provide exceptional chairside assistance during orthodontic procedures, manage patient care with precision, and ensure smooth clinic operations. Duties Assist orthodontists during various procedures including bracket placement, wire adjustments, and appliance fittings with efficiency and confidence. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing dental instruments, setting up necessary equipment such as 3D scanners and dental x-ray machines, and ensuring all tools meet infection prevention standards. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), including panoramic and CT images, adhering to all safety protocols for radiation exposure. Manage patient flow by greeting patients warmly, updating medical records accurately in EMR systems like Dolphin or Ortho Edge, and verifying vital signs when necessary. Educate patients on orthodontic care instructions, appliance maintenance, and oral hygiene practices to promote optimal treatment outcomes. Maintain clinical confidentiality policies while handling sensitive medical documentation and ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Support infection control procedures through proper sterilization techniques and aseptic methods aligned with healthcare standards. Skills Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as Dolphin or Ortho Edge for accurate documentation. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and clinical procedures related to orthodontics and general dentistry. Experience with dental imaging technology including X-ray machines and 3D scanners for precise diagnostics. Familiarity with infection prevention management, dental sterilization procedures, and aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety. Ability to perform chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques for efficient workflow. Knowledge of pediatric dentistry principles when working with younger patients requiring orthodontic interventions. Excellent communication skills as a dental receptionist when scheduling appointments or explaining treatment plans to patients.
