Dental Assistant

    Monday-Friday | 8:00 AM
  • 4:30 PM No Weekends No On-Call Main Location Santa Fe Indian Health Center 1700 Cerrillos Road Santa Fe, NM 87505
  • must be able to travel to other two locations as needed (scheduled in advance) We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Dental Assistant to join our team at the Indian Health Service (IHS) and support the delivery of quality dental care to Native American communities.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional who is passionate about patient care, community health, and working in a collaborative healthcare environment. As a Dental Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting dentists and specialists while helping ensure patients receive exceptional care in a safe, respectful, and culturally sensitive setting. Key Responsibilities Prepare treatment rooms and ensure instruments and equipment are properly sterilized according to infection control standards. Assist dentists chairside during a variety of dental procedures, including restorative, endodontic, prosthodontic, and oral surgery treatments. Take and process dental radiographs while adhering to all safety protocols. Provide patient education regarding oral hygiene, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions. Maintain accurate patient records and assist with clinical documentation. Schedule appointments and support front office operations as needed. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality. Utilize four-handed dentistry techniques to promote efficient patient care. Assist with inventory management, supply organization, and maintaining a clean clinical environment. Collaborate with dentists, hygienists, and other healthcare professionals to support optimal patient outcomes. QualificationsRequired Graduate of an accredited Dental Assisting program or equivalent training. Current Dental Assistant certification, registration, or licensure as required by state regulations. Knowledge of infection control, sterilization procedures, and OSHA standards. Experience taking dental radiographs and understanding radiation safety protocols. Strong communication, organizational, and patient service skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment. Preferred 24 months experience in a general dental clinic, community health center, or public health setting. Dental Assistant & Radiology Certification Needed Experience working with adults Familiarity with Epic or other electronic health record systems. Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and dental procedures. Why Join Us?
