In this vital role, you will support dentists during a variety of procedures, ensure clinical operations run smoothly, and uphold the highest standards of infection control and patient confidentiality. Your proactive approach and attention to detail will contribute to delivering outstanding patient experiences in a fast-paced, team-oriented setting. Duties Assist dentists during clinical procedures including restorative, endodontic, prosthodontic, oral surgery, and pediatric dentistry treatments. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing dental instruments, setting up necessary supplies, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly according to dental sterilization procedures. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray), including digital imaging and 3D scans, while adhering to dental x-ray safety protocols. Manage patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Dentrix or Epic, ensuring accurate documentation of medical history, vital signs, and treatment notes in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Perform chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize workflow efficiency and patient comfort. Process dental instruments following infection prevention management guidelines to maintain aseptic techniques and clinical confidentiality policies. Support administrative tasks such as greeting patients as a dental receptionist, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and managing medical documentation and coding. Educate patients on oral health care practices and post-treatment instructions using clear dental terminology. Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment by adhering to infection control standards related to dental sterilization procedures and healthcare infection prevention protocols. Assist with the use of advanced technology including intraoral cameras, digital scanners (such as 3D scanners), and other diagnostic tools to enhance patient care. Experience Prior experience working in a general dentistry or pediatric dentistry practice is necessary. Proven proficiency with EMR systems like Dentrix or Epic is highly desirable. Knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and medical coding practices is essential for accurate documentation. Hands-on experience with dental x-ray procedures, oral surgery support, endodontics, prosthodontics, and implant procedures is advantageous. Familiarity with infection control standards including aseptic technique and healthcare infection prevention is required. Strong understanding of anatomy knowledge related to oral structures and medical imaging techniques enhances your ability to assist effectively. Previous experience supporting dental sterilization procedures and instrument processing ensures compliance with safety standards.
