EXPERIENCED ONLY
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Pediatric Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in dental assisting procedures, patient care, and clinical support, with a focus on delivering exceptional service in a fast-paced environment. This role offers an opportunity to work closely with experienced dentists and contribute to improving patients' oral health through comprehensive assistance and support. Duties Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary supplies, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly in accordance with infection control protocols. Assist dentists during various procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, ensuring smooth workflow and patient comfort. Take and develop dental X-rays using digital imaging systems such as digital X-ray machines and 3D scanners, maintaining accuracy and safety standards. Manage patient records by updating medical documentation, medical coding, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality. Provide chairside assistance by handing instruments, suctioning, and monitoring vital signs during procedures to ensure patient safety. Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, post-treatment care, and explain treatment plans using appropriate dental terminology. Operate electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for scheduling, billing, and maintaining accurate medical records. Support the dental receptionist in managing appointment scheduling, patient check-in/out processes, and answering patient inquiries professionally. Maintain a sterile environment through aseptic technique and adhere to infection control standards to prevent cross-contamination. Assist with medical imaging procedures including X-ray positioning and interpretation under the supervision of the dentist or specialist. Experience Prior experience working in a dental clinic setting is required, with familiarity in general dentistry procedures and pediatric dentistry preferred. Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, taking X-rays, and operating digital imaging tools such as 3D scanners is essential. Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques is necessary for effective patient care. Experience with EMR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix enhances workflow efficiency; familiarity with Epic or other medical documentation platforms is advantageous. Understanding of HIPAA regulations related to medical records management ensures compliance with privacy standards. Ability to perform vital signs assessment accurately and support multiple procedures simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. Certification in radiography or X-ray licensing as required by state regulations is highly desirable.
