Duties Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures including general dentistry, endodontics, prosthodontics, and oral surgery with precision and professionalism. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing and organizing dental instruments according to infection prevention management and aseptic technique standards. Take and develop dental x-rays, including 3D scans when applicable, ensuring accurate medical imaging for diagnosis. Manage patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft while adhering to HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies. Collect vital signs and medical history information from patients to support comprehensive care planning. Support dental reception duties by scheduling appointments, updating medical documentation, and assisting with patient inquiries. Maintain strict infection control protocols and dental sterilization procedures to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff. Demonstrate proficiency in dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and medical coding to facilitate accurate documentation and billing processes. Experience Previous experience working in a dental clinic setting is highly preferred, especially with pediatric dentistry or general dentistry practices. Familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic is essential for efficient medical records management. Knowledge of dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, four-handed dentistry, and dental instrument processing is required. Hands-on experience with X-ray procedures, dental sterilization procedures, infection prevention management, and aseptic techniques is vital. Strong understanding of healthcare infection prevention and control expertise along with medical terminology enhances your ability to support safe clinical practices. Experience working with pediatric patients or in oral surgery environments will be considered an asset. Certification in dental assisting or related fields is preferred but not mandatory; ongoing training opportunities are available for motivated candidates.
